I can recommend this site as the most interesting place to see a small piece of social history centred on a micro district of Hull namely Crowle Street, Hedon Road.
If only there were more of these covering the now long gone streets of Hull where communities lived and worked, sometimes in absolute poverty.
The big question is:
With all the effort put into regeneration of both housing, education and industry over the past fifty years why is Hull not the boom town that it should be and not, according to a survey I saw, the “worst place to live”?

My opinion is that all the "modernization" and "refurbishment" that has happened in the last 50 years has been done for the wrong reasons. Riding on the back of the war torn city, so called developers found it so easy to get plans passed to build their overpriced and extravagant projects many of which were being built for the wrong reasons. That is why many are now or have already been under the bulldozer again making way for the latest fads. How many times does one need to alter a road, an education system, a housing development etc before they start to learn from the many mistakes that have been made and just shoved under the carpet.

Orchard Park Estate High rise, Maisonettes, North Bransholme Now Bond street, the education system has been "overhauled" how many times in that period? It still isn't right. Just about everything you can think of has disaster attached. I think it's about time the people of this (and other) cities woke up to what is going on, the amount of money being swindled out of systems is phenomenal, and they get away with it time and time again.

It will never change though.... silent  Just going to stick my head back in the sand.... Rolling Eyes
