Not a lot! We don't care for soaps or so-called 'reality TV' - anything further from reality would be hard to find. Recently we have been watching the updated Sherlock Holmes, which I was delighted to find was a cracking good production. We also watched the first episode of 'The Deep' and we've decided to record the rest, so we can watch it all in one go. Again, very good and nice to see some quality home-grown stuff. We also watch nearly all the CSIs - i.e. CSI, CSI:NY and our favourite, NCIS. We were put off the Miami one by the wooden acting of Horatio whatsisname.

Sherlock Holmes was fantastic, really enjoyed it, but was frustrated at the ending. It has since been revealed that BBC wish to make more!!!

I love Monster Hunter on Livingit which airs on Sunday nights at 8. I find it interesting, informative, and hilarious at times. Josh Gates is a great presenter and doesn't take things too seriously.

We love Mythbusters, How it's Made, and Bear Grylls which all air on Discovery Channel.

Susan watches a lot of soaps, and I use this time to get my laptop out, which is not connected to the internet, and do a lot of typing.

My son and I can sit and watch war documentaries, and recently watched the two hour Hiroshima documentary that mixed real footage with actors and state of the art special effects. It was a great documentary, really thought provoking, and I must admit to being really moved by the effects of the bomb.

I like True Crime documentaries, and know of several that are in production on Jack the Ripper that will be shown later this year and earlier next year.

I really enjoyed The Pacific which came from the same team as Band of Brothers. It is about time the same team showed the British side of WWII and not just how the Americans found the conflict.

The Proms are such great stuff and worth my TV Licence. The Beethoven has been wonderful. The Herlock Shomes was very amusing, a real switch around and a hoot. The Deep? Ha! The revelation of the Mysterons of the deep had me giggling and yes they are all less convincing than the Puppets, who were far less wooden. There is so much Balsa in the telling yet hey it still sank. I think our own Deep should sue. The Normans? A Professor in the introductory episode took a full hour to muddle. Knights! Knights? There were no Knights at Hastings in 1066. Then, as a throw away line, as if they were a different group, he gave their High German Title, which was not copied then misspelt and adopted from Brabant by the Teutonic Orders until a century later. Mrs AR-T loves the Bill, NCIS, Frost, Midsommer Murders, Taggart, so I watch them as well and, well, I suppose I have grown used to them. I am not in the slightest bit squeamish, but all the dissecting of cadavers is wearisome. If they cannot carry the yarn without all that in your face gore, they should write something else.

I tend to watch soaps and the US crime docs and most of the BBC drama programmes. Sherlock Holmes was absolutely brilliant but after watching most of the first episode of The Deep, I switched it off from boredom and confusion. It seemed to switch from present day to flashbacks without any warning and I found that most disconcerting; I also found the constant underwater shots claustrophobic which is very strange, because I am not really a sufferer from that syndrome in real life. I don't have Sky so I tend to not watch many programmes that I would probably enjoy but with all the Freeview programmes available, adding Sky would be rather egging the pud, I think. Mind you, even though there are more than 60 programmes available without Sky, I still find myself chuntering about "There's never owt on the bloody telly" on a regular basis. And I can still remember when we had one BBC TV programme and the wireless and the telly went off at 10 pm. Hohum! what larks, Mister Pip!

The Deep is the kind of program I would usually watch but for some reason I missed the first episode so didn't bother with the rest. After seeing the reviews, I am glad.

Mike, without risking spoiling "the, er, story" for Medsec, it is difficult to say much on it. However, Medsec, LOOK AWAY NOW.

Lowering voice to a conspiratorial whisper.

Think of a people up to their fetlocks in oil and surrounded by "conveniently" melting seas of ice wherein there lies vast untapped quantities of same. Now ask th'sen, "Why would they want to build a vast underwater platform, sneak it to the furthest and deeply frozen ocean to drill for more?" Ha! It's not as if these same folks are, ever were, or ever will be, enthusiastic Sailers, let alone Submariners.

Oh my word! Talk about 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' - to my mind he has all the sex appeal of a road accident.

My husband watches some good stuff on Yesterday. I do think that documentary making nowadays is very poor, though. They tell you what they are going to tell you, then they tell you a little, then there's the adverts, then they tell you what they told you before the adverts, then they tell you what they are going to tell you.........etc. etc.

Have you noticed that ads on all sides (apart from the bbc) seem to get longer and longer,it seems you are promised an hour long programme, and feels like you only get around forty mins, and i find it realy annoying when now and again they go into the ads at almost the end of the programme, then when it returns it feels like a minoute and the titles are up and back to the ads.grrr Mad

I read the other day in the Radio Times, I think, that the switchover will improve reception, as it will enable them to boost signal power. I thought that was part of the aim of it all anyway. I sure hope it does improve things as you can bet your bottom dollar that the picture will freeze or break up just at the most vital or exciting part of a programme. The article I'm referring to said that this should do away with the break up etc.

It'll save them money and they may well spend that making the signal stronger, but I don'y see how one can have any direct effect on the other.

I've been Googling (they can't touch your for it, you know). It seems that digital is not being broadcast yet at full power, as it would interfere with analogue signals. Once the analogue goes, there will be the bandwidth available and they will be able to broadcast at full power. So most people's reception should improve.

Watching TV is becoming more stressful- It was easier when the remote was only three buttons? Now it's like an Scientific maths calculator.
